As Christmas rapidly approaches, it can be easy to become overwhelmed by the number of things you still need to do to prepare for the holiday season. Trust me – I feel you on this because I am in the same boat. I’m not sure why, but this year has been very hard for me when it comes to keeping up with everything.

I just seem delayed on everything – getting presents, wrapping presents, etc. If you feel like you’re running out of time to get everything done before Christmas day, here are some last-minute Christmas to-dos to add to your list!

Wrap the Gifts:

First of all, if you are not finished with your shopping, go ahead and schedule a day to get that done. If you have kids, find a babysitter and make it more relaxing, or take them along with you and make a fun family day out of it!

Then, once your shopping is fully finished, one of the last things you can do before Christmas is to wrap all the presents.

Take the time to wrap each gift with care and make sure to label each one with the recipient’s name. If you’re short on wrapping paper, you can use newspaper, brown paper bags, aluminum foil, or even fabric to wrap the presents. Using things you already have around the house is a great, more sustainable way to wrap, too. A win-win!

Make a Grocery List:

Make sure you have all the ingredients for your Christmas dinner or any other dishes you plan to make for the holiday. Write down a list of all the items you need to buy from the grocery store and make a plan for when you will make the purchase.

Consider who is coming over and prepare for any potential allergies. Don’t just think about dinner, thoguh! Make sure you are considering meals and snacks for the full day. I don’t know if you are like me, but I love to snack, ha!

Get a Tree:

Okay, I’m hoping that at this point, you already have your tree, but if you haven’t purchased one already (I’m not here to judge!!), head to a local tree farm or Christmas tree lot to pick out the perfect tree for your home. You can also purchase a pre-lit tree if you’re extra short on time.

Decorate the House:

Get into the Christmas spirit by decorating your home with festive decorations. Hang up lights and garlands, put up a wreath on the front door, and set up a Christmas tree.

If you haven’t done this yet, weigh the pros and cons of doing so. For me, decorating the house brings so much joy, but we are towards the end of the season, so make sure it is worth your time and energy, especially if you are stressed about your time and amount of items on your to-do list.

Plan a Special Activity:

Make the holiday season even more special by planning a special activity for your family. Consider taking a drive to look at holiday lights, going ice skating, or baking Christmas cookies together. Things like this are always fun – make sure to keep those traditions active!

Make Time for Yourself:

With all the hustle and bustle of the holiday season, it’s important to make time for yourself. Take some time to relax, reflect on the year, and enjoy the holidays.

The good news? You do not have to do everything yourself. There are plenty of ways to split up tasks – even if you need to use the help of companies to get some things done. For example, if you need lights hung, find a company that can help.

If you need furniture delivered (like a bed, for instance, for your guests), have a moving company pick it up for you, instead, like Movin’. These Salt Lake City gun safe movers have the experience, the great reviews, and the manpower to do it right the first time, saving you time for yourself and relieving that stress on your plate.

Send Holiday Cards:

Send out holiday cards to your family and friends to show them you’re thinking of them during the holiday season. You can also use this time to catch up on connecting with your friends and family and write thank you notes for any gifts you have received.

Get Some Rest:

Make sure you get plenty of rest before Christmas day and don’t forget to take a few breaks here and there. You don’t want to be too exhausted to enjoy the holiday season. Take time for YOURSELF and do not over-do it!

By taking the time to do these last-minute things, you can make sure you’re ready for Christmas day. You’ll be able to relax and enjoy the holiday season with your family and friends.
